Reshaping the hippie look and Be a Modern Bohemian

I would like to give an interpretation of the bohemian trend. I love this style so much and I want to share some ideas how you can dress boho-chic. We’d like to look away from costume-like baggy replication of an era from 60’s to 70’s and get a fresh modern feel look, reshaping the bohemian style today. Subtly stylish piece of clothing, yet still with a hippie spirit and an evolution we can embrace. Let’s proceed to my outfit style ideas and some subtle way of re-imaging the past.

Please click some of my articles and outfit ideas regarding Bohemian style

1.          Feminine floral prints and Maxi dresses
Flowy silhouettes in chiffon fabric with romantic touches, floral prints and delicate lace accents, ethnic/tribal prints as well as maxi dress with cut outs influences today’s bohemian flair. These types of dresses can be worn with minimal accessories unlike putting too many chunky bracelets and necklaces; this is more luxurious than ever before.

Style idea #1

Style idea #2
Studded clutch and heels by Zara

2.         Wide floppy hats and Flower crowns
This striking accessory is everything “boho-chic”. Without putting so much effort, a complete gorgeous wide-brimmed floppy hat can take your outfit to the next level and can update your look in an instant. This is the perfect accessory to achieve the modern luxe bohemian style.

The total feminine flower crowns echoed yesterday’s braided/weave headpieces with feathers. Instead of copying past headpiece, the flower crowns comes in different styles, colors and sizes. It’s still keeping the bohemian feel reaching the present’s modern lines.

3.         Flowy jumpsuit and romper
If you’re really keen on sporting this trend without looking a person from the past; try to find  a flowy jumpsuit and rompers . These are fashion staple both for casual and formal wear. Without losing sight of the present flair, invest in a flattering jumpsuit or romper in light fabrics, lace, floral or paisley prints and bold solid colors like burgundy, tan/nude, blue or magenta. In this way you have the hippie look without stepping back in time.

Style idea #4
Tan scarf neck Jumpsuit by Michael Kors
Yves Saint Laurent 'Tribute' sandals

4.         Gladiator sandals and flat embellished sandals
Style your tie dye silk short dress with flirty heeled gladiator sandals. For a much comfortable yet statement ranking, throw on a flat embellished sandals. Being a modern bohemian, the footwear is really important.  This is the number one visible in an outfit.

5.         Loose curls, braided up-do and loose french braid hairstyles

Your hair says it all in your total look. Sport a simple and fresh clean braided up-do or if you don't have the skills to do it, try the effortless loose curls.

That's it, Lovelies! Those are  something reshaping the tradition and subtly came out looking for more luxurious without imitating the past.

Are you too old to wear this?

Am I too old to wear this? Have you asked yourself this question today? I received a message on Facebook from a loyal reader of my blog asking about age appropriate style. The message sender is 25 and young professional. Here's her message.
Last week I past by to a group of girls at the mall, approximately 13-15 years old and I've noticed some of them are wearing the same skirt & bag I bought last month. It's not about the same stuff but it occurred to me that I perhaps shouldn't share clothing style with someone half of my age. During off days, I use to wear cap, cropped shirt and denim shorts. Are there things that people of certain ages shouldn't wear? Do you think there's such a thing as dressing too young or too old for your age? I want to get your opinion on this issue. Thanks! Love Jane

Dear Jane,

My dear first of all thank you for your constant support, sending a message and for great questions. I'm 28 , married but a lot of people say I don't look my age and often ask if I'm a college student. That's a nice compliment but I guess that's probably more to do with my face and I think yeah I don't look my age and never feel old. I also wear the same clothes as youngsters and I strongly believe it's how you wear it in a way that you like, you're comfortable with and suits you well, that makes it appropriate for however old you are or feel. Also you will develop your own style as you grow older. I honestly wear more fun clothes today than I did when I was in my teens but I'm far more comfortable with myself right now and I never want to be restricted by my age when it comes to what I wear. My opinion is nowadays youth love experimenting and sometimes push things to extremes in a way you don't as you grow to understand what suits you and what you really like. Just because you like the same bag or share love for the same print of skirt(they're 13-15 & you're 25) doesn't make it age inappropriate. Everyone should wear whatever makes them happy and be comfortable in it. Those are my honest opinion. I hope you got the answers to all of your questions. Until next time and keep sending those wonderful letter.

Always be confident and comfortable in the clothes you wear.
Let your personality shine through your Style and Look Fabulous!

Have a great day! Thanks for visiting my blog! See you on my next post. ^_^

Dressing up at your best

Hi, lovelies! How are you doing today? Smile, smile, smile... spread the good cheer everyday. ^_^

“Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.” ― Coco Chanel

When I started this blog, the majority of my posts are not about fashion or styling tips. At first, my blog is intended for my vacation trips, some parts of my daily life and random rants. But I've decided last August 2013 to include fashion/outfit styling ideas. In this case, I get to document my style and look back to see how my style improve trough the years.

There are so many good things about writing especially about fashion. I must say that it's an outlet for creativity and an opportunity to share cool ideas or advice with a bigger audience which has also connected me to a lot of amazing people all over the world.

Once in a while I get an email telling me that my blog posts are nice and sometimes readers appreciate my writings. It's a nice feeling when other people appreciate what you do and those appreciation became an inspiration for me to do better.

Stephanie emailed me this great question yesterday, "I will go to college next school year and I still can't figure out my style or how to dress nicely because I'm chubby. I live in jeans and t-shirts, I'm afraid dresses or shorts will not look great on me. I really adore dresses but lacking some confidence. Please give some advice on how to look good and dress myself. Thanks!" -Stephanie

Here's my answer, Stephanie, I totally understand you and honestly during my college days; I also live in jeans, shirts and rubber shoes. I wore these type of clothes for 4 years, I seldom buy new one because I'm on a tight budget and the money I have is only for transportation and food allowances. Some people laugh at me and saying that I'm "baduy". [Baduy is a Filipino slang meaning unfashionable, conservative, poor taste] There's nothing wrong with these type of clothing, it's actually very comfortable to wear. It's just that, during those years when I'm still studying, I can't have a good pair of sandals, can't have nice shorts and skirt or dresses. Buying these stuff is not my priority and I DON'T CARE whether they call me "baduy". I know myself better than anyone else, I can be a regular lady in jeans+shirt or a gorgeous elegant lady that you can imagine. I have this attitude like Coco Chanel: “I don't care what you think about me. I don't think about you at all.”

It's just a matter of purpose, motivation, self-confidence and finding your style. Some people that like fashion don't make an effort because it can take time, not a "great day" or simply not practical. You should give purpose to your fashion. Whether you're going to the mall or just working at home, say to yourself that "Today, I want to look pretty and go to my favorite coffee shop and do my work there." Anything can be your motivation that will bring you to dress better.

If you're a regular chick that likes to wear jeans and shirt , it's okay. No one is forcing you to wear and walk in heels but if you're the type of lady who wants to try different styles then this is the time to experiment. Fashion is actually an excellent way to figure yourself out what looks good on you and what's not. Dressing well gives you self-confidence. When you look at yourself in the mirror and think you look awesome, you'll feel good all day.

A well-dressed woman looks put together. People will like you if you have a great personality but with combined great style, they will not forget you. You're not dressing up because you want to stand out from the crowd or to get noticed. What you want is to make a good impression and draw the "right" kind of attention.

If you walk with your head up, have an attitude in carrying your style, have some confidence, purpose and motivation then this mean you'll have a GREAT STYLE.

Thank you very much! I hope this help you in any way. :)

Ways to bond with your Mother

Have you asked yourself when was the last time you had bonded with your Mom?  Did you give enough time – time to date your mom or just have a little chitchat with her?

With My Beautiful Mother

They say that there is an eternal influence and power in motherhood. There are so many responsibilities of mothers today. Our moms taught us to pray, good values, be responsible and a lot more. In every step we make, she is there all the time to give support, give pieces of advice and teach us what’s right from wrong in order to become a better person.

I have 3 siblings (My Kuya Wilson, younger sister Queen and youngest bro Wessley). The unconditional love of my mother was exceptional.  In good times and in bad times, she loved us all equally without expecting anything in return.

My mom is my best buddy and my most trusted woman. I’m her sidekick and she’s my superhero. Hehe! Seriously, I’m always with her whenever she got an appointment or something like it. So there are many things that you can do with the most special lady in your life.

You have to know the value of bonding moment with your mom. In pondering the significance of our mothers, I’d like to suggest few ways to bond with her.

1.       Go to Nail salon and spa
Manicure, pedicure with foot spa is a great treat for her. Our mom need time to relax even for a day after a long work at home. Remember folks, it’s not easy to be a housewife.

2.       Surprise her
I’m sure you love to see the reaction of your mom when you prepared a simple get-together for her or surprise her with a gift - something that she loves, a perfume, dress, bag, maybe? How well do you know your mom? So I guess you probably know what she likes.

3.       Cook her favorite dish
Sad to say but some of us were not born chef but who says that you need to be a chef to cook delicious meals? Our mothers are very good cook therefore you have to be prepared. Recipes are all now in the internet and all you have to do is practice. Know your mom’s fave dish and check some video tutorial. Voila! I’m sure your mom will be very happy. Number 1 for your effort and number 2 for the love.

4.       Weekend getaway
Plan a short vacation out of town where you and your mom can relax. Enjoy nature’s view or if you have more time, plan a vacation overseas.

5.       Dine out
Make a reservation in a fancy restaurant. If your mom have a favorite restaurant then this     will be perfect to reserve a table for the whole family. You may also want to try a restaurant that is new to both of you.

If you have any ideas or ways to bond with your Mom , feel free to share it and comment below. <3

Tips and facts in going to Singapore

 1. Get an EZ-LINK CARD

The MRT in Singapore goes everywhere on the island as well as their buses are so easy to ride because they use a single payment system called EZ-Link card.
An EZ-Link card is a must if you’re like me who wants a hassle-free travel else you have your Singapore coins ready before stepping in to a bus. It accepts coins/exact change and you must know how much the fare costs from place to place since every km has an equivalent rates. Same goes with the MRT Station, before you can enter the station, you need to tap the card at the panel and as you disembark just tap again your card and it will automatically deduct the fare.

My husband already bought me a TOP UP Card a day before my arrival in Singapore. This EZ-Link card costs SG$15 (RELOADABLE) has an initial value SG$10 when you buy it plus it has a lot of use; it can be used to pay for MRT, taxi fares, bill at restaurants and even vendo machines.

2. Thirsty? Don’t buy bottled water because you can drink tap water in Singapore. It is safe and clean. Bottled water in supermarkets/minimarts cost around SG$2. Tap water = FREE!

Hawker stalls

3.Hungry?  Who says that you cannot enjoy Singapore cuisine in a very reasonable price? Explore Singapore’s delicious food by eating in food courts and hawker stalls.

Me at the Fauna and Flora Park, SG

4.Enjoy the Parks. Who would have thought that a city like Singapore who appears mostly concrete is blessed with excellent parks? You can enjoy the skyline views for free and they have a system interconnecting links parks to each other via a skywalk.

5.Starhub’s Prepaid Card

You can buy a prepaid SIM card from Starhub for SG$15 and it comes with a SG$18 load.

6. Do not smoke and drink. A pack of cigarette cost around SG$16 and drinking is too expensive. Singapore has a high taxation for these two. Even the entrance fee in clubs cost around SG$20-30. So it may sounds practical if you like to drink just opt to buy from minimarts. lol

Have a safe trip and enjoy!
